Stolen Apple releases video for ‘Renegade Sun (Brexit)’

Italian band Stolen Apple is back with a new video from their album, Wagon Songs. “Renegade Sun (Brexit)” is described as a psychological journey by the artists. “Imprisonment, alienation, psychiatric detention and isolation: This is Brexit, the song of the renegade sun,” Stolen Apple said in a statement.

“Because renegade is the awareness of the whole and of freedom. And the conformist sister reigns, while I scratch the days, I jump on a new horizon and set new conditions. Brexit is the faint scream of the humanity that takes itself prisoner and sticks its head in a tube. Correct, cancel, throw away everything as you like. Mercilessly, please.”

The music video is visually jarring, featuring varying patterns, run-and-gun shooting, and intense images. One’s perception also influences the visual effects. “When the world gets smaller and narrower, the eye can expand to find other ways of escape,” the band said. “The video of ‘Renegade Sun (Brexit)’ is a sensory exploration between reality and memory, made with optical instruments, scientific detection devices, analogical fragments torn from time and radically transformed object trouvé. Around our houses there is a hidden abyss.”

“Renegade Sun” was produced and directed by NoWareArt, a video creator described as “optical, organic, inorganic,” in their Facebook bio. “NoWareArt looks for life where it hides. It shapes the analogue into the digital. And vice versa.” NoWareArt can also be found on Instagram.

Stolen Apple was formed in Florence in 2008, and consists of Riccardo Dugini (voice, guitar), Luca Petrarchi (voice, guitar), Massimiliano Zatini (bass), and Alessandro Pagani (drums). Their social links appear below:
