Mr Eazi shares new single, ‘I No Go Give Up On You’
Nigerian afropop superstar MR EAZI has shared his latest single, “I No Go Give Up On You,” giving listeners a first taste of his new EP, One Day You Will Understand, coming June 5 via the artist’s own Banku Music label and emPawa Distribution.
MR EAZI can currently be seen on the cover of Billboard Magazine’s “Africa Now” issue , the U.S. music bible’s first edition fully dedicated to the continent and its music industry. The issue’s cover story, by Gail Mitchell, features a roundtable discussion between MR EAZI and fellow Nigerian stars Davido and Tiwa Savage speaking on the global rise of African music.
MR EAZI is a notable figure in that rise, through both his own music releases and his mentorship of rising African talent through his emPawa Africa initiative. Launched in 2018, emPawa Africa’s incubator program has provided start-up funding to 130 emerging African artists, including rising stars JOEBOY, LADY DONLI and J.DEROBIE, to launch their professional recording careers.
In 2019, MR EAZI and emPawa Africa created emPawa Distribution, the first digital distribution company dedicated solely to servicing African music to the global market, and emPawa Label Services, providing marketing and business support for new and established African acts to further their own independence as artist-entrepreneurs.
The four-track One Day You Will Understand EP will feature collaborations with several emPawa acts including C NATTY, whose single “Ojah” recently kicked off the rollout of releases from emPawa’s #emPawa30 class; MIKEL, an alum of last year’s inaugural #emPawa100 class; and Ghanaian highlife star and emPawa Label Services client, KING PROMISE. To emphasize the group effort, Eazi is releasing the project not under his own name but as EMPAWA AFRICA & MR EAZI.
The EP, MR EAZI’s first new project since 2018’s acclaimed Life is Eazi, Vol. 2 – Lagos to London, features production from an all-star team of African producers including GUILTYBEATZ — who recently issued his debut EP, Different, via Banku Music/emPawa Africa — BLAQ JERZEE, NONSO AMADI and LEGENDURY BEATZ.
