Rockey’s Milk Punch, A Clear Natural Liquer
We love to try new natural liqueurs. Many would like Rockey’s, a delicious, clear natural liqueur, produced from a blend of green tea, black tea, pineapple, apple juice, biscuit, coconut, and citrus.
One does not realize that when you drink Milk Punch, you are a taking part in a tradition that goes back many generations. The first Milk Punch was made by a renowned British playwright and royal spy, Aphra Behn, in the late 1600s. Later, Benjamin Franklin developed his own recipe for the stuff.
This is a clarified milk punch, a category of drinks that at its root level combines a spirit with citrus, tea and milk. The citrus curdles the milk to clarify it, while the spirit provides fortification and stabilization. This liqueur is carefully distilled at Virgil Kane distillery, United States.
Rockey’s Milk Punch was created by Eamon Rockey, a hospitality entrepreneur who has been a leader in the New York City cocktail community for over a decade. Eamon was first exposed to Milk Punch by a friend who had reproduced a century-old recipe. He created the drink in 2017.
He was General Manager and author of the beverage program at Michelin-starred Betony Maison-Dellos’ only North American restaurant located in midtown Manhattan, New York City. Esquire named Betony Restaurant of the Year in 2013 and The New York Times gave three stars in a review. Eamon graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and was Director of Beverage Studies. He recommends combining Champagne with his milk punch for a simple spritz or adding it into your favorite agave or whiskey cocktail.
He is a supporter of the non-profit organization No Kid Hungry, for which he serves as Spirits Chair in New York. Eamon has served as the New York Spirits Chair for Share Our Strength since 2014.
