BERNO readies new single, ‘EBT (Energy Be Terrific)’
One of the most electrifying songs of the summer is on the way! Music artist and social media star BERNO is gearing up for the release of his aptly titled single, “EBT (Energy Be Terrific).” While the official release date is TBD, we received the song as part of a media preview and were instantly captivated by the instrumentation and BERNO’s one-of-a-kind vibe.
“EBT” comes in hot, and the listener is immediately stimulated. Produced by MOWRI and Dirties On The Left, the combination of strings and BERNO’s intro usher you into a mood that is more “fitting.” By the time the beat drops, “Energy Be Terrific” is more than a mantra, it’s a state of being.
The last drop from BERNO was last summer’s “Funny“– a dark, resolute single that marked his debut as a solo songwriter. “It’s heavy on the bass, and the lyrics take you to a place of dangerous anger while still being calm and subdued,” BERNO told Life Entertainment News at the time of the release. “EBT” is also in-your-face, but this time the aggression feels more celebratory. The production and lyrics make you want to dance in spite of circumstances, naysayers, or whatever is trying to bring you down. “It’s a ‘take your power back’ [song] because EBT is looked down upon and I want to change the meaning,” BERNO said. “I also wrote the song when I was really down and wanted to feel good about myself and anyone else.”
The chorus on “EBT” repeats the French phrase, “ne manque jamais” or “never miss,” and the pre-chorus echoes, “From the gutter but my fit is fitting.” That refrain is a reference to BERNO’s viral street fashion interviews, in which he approaches stylish New Yorkers and let’s them know that their “fit is fitting.” The line is recognizably BERNO. “I just want people to organically hear it and for it to be ingrained in their subconscious,” he explained.
The infectious clips are a hit on TikTok and Instagram, but the former wardrobe stylist is not resting on his laurels. BERNO plans to continue the style interviews and work on music simultaneously. Right now, the priority is the “EBT” rollout. “I’m always thinking and writing something, but I tend to focus on a song and put all my energy into it. No pun intended,” he laughed.
