JB Smoove to host 12th Annual Shorty Awards
Actor and comedian JB Smoove will host the 2020 Shorty Awards, the organization announced Tuesday. The May 3 event is the first all-digital version of the award show, moved online due to stay-at-home restrictions in New York City. The Shortys recognize people and organizations making their mark in the social media space, with categories such as “Best Meme/Parody Account,” “Best Graphics,” and “Best Facebook Partnership.”
JB Smoove is known for his roles on “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “The Polka King,” and many other television and film appearances. In 2017, he released “Book of Leon: Philosophy of a Fool,” based on his “Curb Your Enthusiasm” character, Leon Black. The audio version was nominated for a 2018 Audie Award.
This year’s Shorty Awards finalists include Rebel Wilson, the “Aladdin” emoji, and Jordyn Woods, with Fetty Wap and Grammy Award-winning violinist Miri Ben-Ari as musical guests. The 12th Annual Shorty Awards will stream on YouTube and Twitter on May 3 at 7 p.m. ET.
